About Us
We are extremely fortunate at Valley Road Community Primary to be if not the only, then certainly the first school of its kind in the North East and possibly Britain. Where the school has been designed to embrace the community and all it can offer, into its very buildings and, therefore, its heart.
It is our aim to create a school in which everyone experiences success in all aspects of learning and socialising. We have created a caring, calm environment with clear rules and expectations where children and adults alike are encouraged to try new things and to adopt a ‘have a go’ attitude to everything in school from classroom work and learning and after school clubs, to sports, music, arts activities and behaviour improvement and social success.
Our new school building with many of the latest advances in computer technology, lots of extra staff, and a unique design with many community facilities supports all of these aims. Whilst new, special and different, none of this means anything if the children in our school are not recognised to be individuals with differing needs and interests.
Our starting point is ‘everyone is different’. We have the skills and resources but, most importantly, a strong staff team with the commitment and desire for every child to achieve the very best he or she can. We have a breakfast club, after school clubs, extra support staff in every classroom, three extra teachers to support children with particular needs and up to date technology, but most importantly, a warm, friendly, welcoming environment with caring and supportive adults all committed to making sure your child makes the most of every opportunity while being safe, hardworking and happy.
