Día de la Constitución Española El 6 de diciembre, celebramos el día en que aprobamos la Constitución de España en 1978. En este día, hay eventos públicos y del Gobierno con referencia a la Constitución. Esta es una nueva fiesta que comenzamos a celebrar en 1978 como fiesta nacional. En la Constitución están escritos todos los derechos y deberes de los Españoles. Day of the Spanish Constitution On December 6th we celebrate the day on which the Spanish Constitution was approved in 1978. On this day there are public and governmental events to do with the Constitution. This is a new celebration which was started in 1978 as a national celebration. In the Constitution are written all the rights and duties of the Spanish people. Día de la Inmaculada Concepción Es el día de la Inmaculada. Es una festividad nacional y a la vez religiosa. Recordamos este día como el día de la concepción de la Virgen María. Day of the Immaculate Conception This is the Virgin Mary’s day. It is a national and a religious festivity. We remember the day of the Virgin Mary’s conception. Nochebuena En el 24 de diciembre celebramos Nochebuena. Esta noche las familias se reúnen y toman una cena especial. Comemos cardo – un tipo de vegetal – mazapán, turrones etc.. Y también cantamos villancicos. Christmas Eve On the 24th December we celebrate Christmas Eve. In the evening families get together and have a special dinner. We eat thistle – a kind of vegetable – marzipan, nougat etc.. We also sing carols. Día de Navidad El 25 de diciembre es el día de Navidad. Las familias están juntas todo el día, y conversan, juegan, cantan, comen y ríen. Es un día de felicidad. Christmas Day 25th December is Christmas Day. Families are together all day, and chat, play, sing, eat and laugh. It is a fun day. Día de los Santos Inocentes En el día de los Santos Inocentes recordamos el día en que Herodes mandó a matar a los bebés. En este día hacemos chistes. Day of the “Innocent Saints” On this day we remember the day when Herod ordered the babies to be killed. We play practical jokes on people. Nochevieja Es el último día del año. Todas las familias toman una cena rica. A medianoche cuando el reloj marca las 12, comemos una uva con cada golpe de campaña. Cada uva representa un mes - una manera buena de comenzar el año. New Year’s Eve This is the last day of the year. All families have a good dinner. At midnight when the clock strikes 12, we eat one grape with every stroke. Each grape represents one month – a good way to start the year.
