WHAT'S NEW ?

June 14th 2008

About 40 new resources. KS3, KS4 and starters and plenaries for French and Spanish. I have also reorganised the KS4 French in a bid to make the pages easier to use and the resources easier to find. There are now over 1200 free resources on the site.

May 16th 2008

If you teach Primary French, please have a look at the Sunderland Materials page. I have added 'Deux petits oiseaux - the movie' and also a sample Smartboard file for lesson 1 of the Sunderland Materials.

On the subject of the Interactive Whiteboard, I have finally got round to zipping the Promethean files so that hopefully you will actually be able to download them.

Over the last few weeks I have also added more resources for French, Spanish and German. Many thanks again to all of you who have contributed resources.

April 24th 2008

Have just added some new resources, French, Spanish and German. If you are in the run-up to Spanish GCSE, I recommend that you check out the Spanish starters and plenaries, which will be very useful for revision. Thanks Marie !

Please also have a watch of my first stopmotion animation.

March 28th 2008

More new sound files and accompanying materials. This takes us up to Unit 34 of the Sunderland materials.

March 16th 2008

Lots of new sound files on the primary pages. They are intended to accompany the Sunderland primary materials. Some files are to help the non-specialist teacher to practise their own pronunciation and some of these also have listening exercises and PowerPoints attached. We've got up to Unit 18 so far.

January 11th 2008

Happy New Year to all our users, and thanks for continuing to use the site. November and December saw record numbers of visitors to the site. On one of the last days of term before Christmas the daily record was broken, with 2336 hits in one day.

I have just added some more KS4 Spanish resources and bits and bobs of French.

Thanks to all who have sent resources recently.

September 13th 2007

Happy new school year to everyone.

Some new resources - have a look in French KS4 resources for the Simpsons' take on Personal Identification, and you can find a similar German PowerPoint in the German KS4 resources. If you want to create yourself some Simpsons characters, go to the Simpsons Movie website and create some avatars.

Also some French KS3 grammar on the Simple Future.

July 10th 2007

The start of a lot of new resources that I have started to upload. You'll find a lot more German already and there are plenty more to come.

If you haven't already, have a look at Les Aventures de Lune Landsard (French) and Las Aventuras de Luna D. Lendras (Spanish). It's a series of comic strips designed for KS3 and maybe KS2 to cover as many language areas as possible. If having seen the characters you have an idea for a story please email it ! Progress on these is likely to be slow as the artwork is quite labour intensive, but I hope you think it's worth it.

If you are in a Sunderland school and will be hosting a Foreign Language Assistant next year, please send them the link to our pages to give them lots of info about the job that they will be doing.

June 7th 2007

Over 60 new resources for KS3 Spanish, mostly grammar with some worksheets. Some German to follow soon, more always welcome !

May 24th 2007

Lots of changes and updates:

Visitor record updated for February, March and April 2007. The average number of visitors to the site for the period January-April 2007 is 18248 per month. For the same period in 2006 it was 8795, and 468 in 2005.

The survey told me that people aren't looking at the news, quotes, events and gallery pages as much as some of the others. I have removed the Events and Gallery buttons from the navigation panel on the left and put all of these sections under the button News & Information.

You'll see another change to the buttons on the left as well - a much more prominent copyright statement, following advice from them that know about such things.

I have also rearranged the primary French resources and links so that hopefully they are easier to navigate and things are easier to find.

February 9th 2007

Have just uploaded over 90 new resources - 97 to be precise. There are many for KS4 Spanish, mainly grammar, and a lot for teaching the Passé Composé in French.

20950 hits in January - another record.

January 8th 2006

Happy New Year everybody ! Just replacing the Christmas homepage with something a little less festive and updating the visitor record. During termtime in December (which for most of us had finished by 22nd) there were over 18000 hits to the site. 11th December broke all the records, there being 1438 hits on that day alone. Thanks !

Please keep the resources coming !

December 11th 2006

Some more German Christmas resources - thanks very much to Ceri. Also quite a few new French resources - KS3 Grammar and Worksheets, and another Scheme of Work plus resources for KS3 SEN Spanish.

December 1st 2006

Nearly 20000 hits last month ! Yesterday broke the record for the most hits in one day, with 983.

I have added some more to the Christmas resource pages and got rid of the dead links. If you are or are hosting a primary Foreign Language Assistant, you will find some more resources for them.

November 20th 2006

Some more French and German resources for KS3 - many thanks to Jacqui and Anne-Marie.

I've also sorted all the KS3 French resources out into topics and (I hope) made it easier for you to find what you are looking for. I'd be very grateful for any feedback on this. If you like it, I'll do Spanish and German in the same way.

Thanks for the 13634 hits in October - not bad for a month with a half-term in it!

October 13th 2006

Lots more French KS3 resources in the Worksheets, Grammar and Texts sections. Thanks Marissa !

October 9th 2006

A new page for Primary FLAs

13814 hits in September - thank you !

September 29th 2006

I've just updated the FLAs' pages and added a new page for teachers in schools that are hosting FLAs.

August 23rd 2006

Getting ready for the new school year.

You'll notice that the homepage is a bit different, with a new link to the European Day of Languages information provided by CILT. In addition there are many new resources, including KS3 French worksheets and Spanish A'level materials. Thanks Sally and Marissa ! There are many more to come.

July 5th 2006

The next lot of primary materials are ready - many thanks to Alison Steward. You will find them available to download free on the Primary French page until the end of this term. After that Sunderland teachers can find them on the VLE, everyone else will have to buy them.

Nearly 15000 hits in June. Thank you !

June 26th 2006

I expect you've just received your FLA dossiers. I've been updating the FLA pages on the site, so feel free to send the web address to your FLA so that they can find out about the job they are coming to. If there is any information that you think would help your FLA that could feature on this page, drop me a line.

June 12th 2006

The site received over 11000 hits in May. That's about 360 people a day using it. Most people seem to use it for resources. If you're one of them, please have a look around at the other pages - there's lots more to see ! All donations of resources, links, pictures for the Gallery, accounts of events etc. will be very gratefully received. The site will only continue to thrive if there is give as well as take.

New things added today:

Primary Spanish
Resources from the June 5th MFL Network meeting

May 22nd 2006

More KS3 German resources, KS3 Spanish and the last few GCSE revision starters.

May 1st 2006

I've just put on some German resources for KS3, AS and CBLC. There are plenty more to come.

April 3rd 2006

This month MFL Sunderland celebrates its 2nd birthday. I uploaded the site for the first time on 24th April 2004, and have watched the hit count grow from 2 or 3 a month to 11933 in March 2006. I'm glad the site is proving so useful to so many people. As long as you keep using it, I'll keep doing it.

I've just added some new French GCSE revision starters, as well as some more links for French and German and a few KS3 French resources.

Happy Easter holidays to you all, especially if you've already broken up!

February 16th 2006

Some more GCSE French starters and CBLC German, among others.

January 30th 2006

Many more resources for KS3 French and Spanish, some more links. I have uploaded quite a few of the resources in PDF format as this keeps them smaller for downloading. Please post some messages on the Forum !
