"Making the most of the World Cup" was held at the Sandhill Centre on February 27th 2006. The event was hosted by Sunderland Local Authority on behalf of ATLAS. It catered for teachers of Key Stages 2 and 3, and aimed to be a practical session, with plenty of ideas, facts and figures to take away and use in the classroom. We were pleased to welcome to the event Ged Fitzgerald, the Chief Executive of Sunderland City Council and Chair of the regional European Strategy Group, who kindly agreed to offer his perspectives on the International Dimension. |

The involvement in the World Cup of teams from all over the world and our pupils’ love of everything to do with football make it an ideal opportunity to bring an international dimension into the classroom. Feel free to use the following resources with your classes as they are, or use them to inspire you to create your own activities. See them as a stimulus, a springboard, a launch-pad, a catalyst for your own international work. |
