YEAR 7 DERWENT HILL TRIP

22-26 September 2008

92 new Year 7 students and their tutors had a fantastic time at Derwent Hill Outdoor Education Centre in the Lake District as they got to work, play and live together for three days.

The week was split in two with 7A, 7B, 7C & 7E attending Monday to Wednesday and 7D, 7F & 7G Wednesday to Friday. Mr Horsley, Miss Stevens, Mr Wilkinson and Mr Earley stayed throughout the week and were joined by the tutors and Mr Greenfield for half the week. Mr Thornton made a day visit on the Tuesday.

Everyone pushed themselves hard and supported one another in meeting the physical tests on offer. These ranged from canoeing and kayaking to gorge scrambling and the famous high challenges.

Mr Horsley, the Year Manager, felt the experience was a tremendous success in helping the Year 7 students to feel part of their new school and in getting to know their year staff and year group.

The week was blessed with brilliant weather and the scenic setting was simply beautiful. Derwent Hill staff were delighted with the commitment of our youngsters and staff and hope to offer similar future opportunities to our new intake students.
