- Excellence through Partnership

Our Admissions Number in September 2007 will correspond with the Standard Number which is 180. 180 places are available to students entering Year 7 in September 2007. In September 2006 there are 170 successful applications for enrolment into the school (the Admission Number 180). There were 21 first preferences for Farringdon from parents of young persons outside the cluster primary schools (all were successful). We expect the demand for places this year to remain high, though in common with all Sunderland secondary schools, rolls are contracting in line with the decreasing birth rate.
Parents intending to enrol their young person at Farringdon Community Sports College at age 11 must be aware of the major change in the Admissions Policy which has applied from 1999 in the City of Sunderland owing to the impact of a legal judgement. An application for a place at the school can only be considered if parents express a preference for that particular school within defined time limits.
Failure to register a preference may result in local children not being allocated a place at the school. If a preference is expressed for another school by parents within our locality and the application is unsuccessful, parents must be advised that there is no guarantee of a place at Farringdon should their first preference not be met.
Applications for admission of students other than at age 11 should be made direct to the L.E.A. Admissions Team, before contacting the Assistant Headteacher, Pastoral, where they will be met should vacancies exist. We do not normally enrol students after the beginning of Year 10.Any parent may apply to the school to view any of the following:
DfES s tatutory instruments, including those for the National Curriculum, circulars and administrative memoranda, the published OFSTED report on the school , the School Profile, any syllabuses or schemes or work used by the teachers in the school, the L.E.A. Curriculum Policy and its associated complaints procedure, the L.E.A. agreed syllabus for Religious Education, Governors and L.E.A. Charging Policy and specific School Policies of which there are many including Anti-Bullying, Child Protection and Equal Opportunities.
Approaches must be made to the Headteacher. Copies may be provided at a cost.
