- Excellence through Partnership

"Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies, with Uncle Henry, who was a farmer, and Aunt Em, who was the farmer's wife."
This is the opening line of L. Frank Baum's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz which was written in 1899 and published the following year.
The Wizard of Oz was first performed as an on-stage musical in 1902-03 in Chicago and New York and was made into films on many different occasions during the silent era. The definitive film starring Judy Garland and with screenplay by Noel Langley appeared in 1939;none of the songs from the original stage score were used, however. Harold Arlen wrote a completely new score that included "Over the Rainbow", which won the Academy Award as the best song to come from the screen that season, and which from then on served as Judy Garland's theme song.
