About us

Reading Challenge

Earlier this year a group of Year 10 & Year 9 students volunteered as reading mentors to some of our Year 7 pupils. The year 7 students were asked to take part in Reading Challenge to help improve their reading skills, building confidence in reading out loud and developing their reading and listening skills. For 10 weeks these students have given up their own time and come into the school library before school two mornings each week to take part in Reading Challenge. This year has been really successful thanks to everyone's enthusiasm and commitment and on Wednesday 2nd May,

Mr Thornton congratulated the students on their achievement and handed out certificates to all those who had completed the course. Special thanks to all our Year 10 and Year 9 mentors who have been so consistent in their commitment to the project, for befriending their reading partners and giving them the confidence not only to complete the course but to enjoy the experience. Well done to our Year 7 students who have worked really hard, been so responsible in attending on time and made this years Reading Challenge a success.
