The aims of this course are to:-
To enable candidates to acquire knowledge and understanding which will help them in the world of work.
To equip and prepare candidates for Higher Education.
To support the educational and wider personal development of the individual in preparation for lifelong learning.
What will I study on this course:-
You will study eighteen units in total including sports injuries, training and fitness, practical performance, sport and exercise sciences project, sport and exercise psychology, physiology, skill acquisition and practical sport coaching.
Who is this course for?
Those contemplating careers in the Leisure and Recreation sector and in particular the rapidly expanding health and fitness industry.
What do I need to get on the course?
A minimum of four GCSE's at grade C, a BTEC First Diploma in a related subject such as Sports or an Intermediate GNVQ in a related subject.
How is the course assessed:-
You will be given a grade for each unit (Pass, Merit or Distinction) and your overall grade will be calculated from these.
During the course you will experience a combination of teaching and learning styles as follows:-
Classroom teaching supported by workshops and practical activity.
What qualification will I achieve?
A BTEC National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences.
What can I do after the course?
You can progress to higher education, such as on to the Foundation Degree in Sport and Exercise Development or other sports-related degrees.
