Year 8 Trip to France – July 2007

This year, 40 of our Y8 pupils had the pleasure to discover the North–west of France and spend a week practising their French for “real”. Apart from taking part in some lovely excursions –which you can discover by clicking on the links below, they greatly enjoyed the evening entertainment. They took part in talent shows, karaoke, discos, games, blind date as well as a quiz night. If you don’t believe how great it was, talk to them to find out!

Excursions 2007:

Bagatelle
A local pleasure park which also has a zoo. More relaxed than Disney it offers fun on a smaller scale.

EuroDisney
Situated near Paris it is a great way to end the trip. It has something for everyone. The rides are set out in themed areas and there are also lots of things to see and many shops and great places to eat. Pupils will all be given a map of the park before we arrive to help them plan their day.

Nausicaa Marine Centre
A modern Sealife Centre with monitors and cinemas as well as “touch-tanks”, a sub-marine
observatory of sea lions and a Pacific Island coral reef.

Le Portel
A pretty seaside resort with a safe, sandy, beach surrounded by cliffs. It was once a little fishing port and the large, bustling market is well known in the area.

Les Chocolats de Beussent
The ideal visit for young and old. See the chocolate being made, try it out and buy your presents.

Boulangerie Patisserie Stephane Maillard
Offers a demonstration on bread and croissant making in a traditional 80 year old wood-oven and traditional oven with an opportunity for pupils to try it themselves and sample too.

Aqualud
An aquatic leisure park under a glass pyramid with slides indoors and outside. Never a dull moment and no time to rest all in a safe environment including 13 lifeguards on duty each day.

Boulogne
An attractive French town which dates back to Roman times when Julius Caesar used it as a base to invade Britain. The town is rich with monuments and reminders of the past, a perfect place to just wander round or buy presents.

Agora Sports Centre
Situated on the sea front at Berck Sur Mer the complex includes a pool with waves, ten-pin bowling and a games area.

Now, if you are still not convinced to join the next trip, take a look at our gallery of photos and at our presentation. ENJOY!

Here is a powerpoint presentation of the vist made by students.
