Nurture Group

Nurture Group

The Inclusion Support Centre staff provide a refuge facility for pupils who may be having a difficult time, for instance they may have had a recent bereavement and need time to reflect or they may have an injury that prevents them from moving around the school easily. Pupils attend refuge on a flexible basis. The provision is there for them when they require it. Nurture Group is staffed by one member of staff and is housed in a comfortable room in order to provide consistency within a nurturing environment.

There are structured sessions delivered to group members throughout the school day. Activities include drama, art therapy, reading, preparing and sharing a meal, making breakfast, TV time, relaxation and massage, discussion groups, etc. Attendance is flexible and can range from being full time or for certain sessions. The length of time a pupil can attend the Nurture Group is dependent upon their individual situation and is regularly reviewed with the pupil, parents and appropriate staff.
