ICT & Business Education

Key Stage 3

7.1

Create a presentation about yourself using text, images, and sound. You will consider how to match and adapt your presentation to a given audience and purpose.

7.2

Identify the purposes of information. You will explore the Internet and learn how to narrow down searches. You will learn how to judge the reliability of websites.

7.3

Plan and create a leaflet to give pupils in Year 6 information about subjects they will study at KS3. You will use evaluation criteria to evaluate your work for different audiences.

7.4

Use basic spreadsheet functions to construct, explore and amend simple models and consider how to use graphs and tables in order to present your findings effectively.

7.5

Consider how to gather relevant data to answer a question. You will create a file to store the data and will need to check for accuracy. You will draw conclusions from your data.

7.6

Learn that technology is used to control lots of everyday things (e.g. traffic lights, car park barriers). You will use software to create flowcharts and simulate various scenarios.

8.1

Create an information system (using a spreadsheet) to look up the climate for people wishing to go on holiday. You will use a spreadsheet to gather information from the Internet.

8.2

Design and build an interactive web page on a school subject of your choice. You will include at least one graphic and hyperlinks and will need to consider a range of audiences.

8.3

Use the Internet as a source of information and will evaluate various websites. You will need to consider how reliable the website is, and whether the website is biased in any way.

8.4

Use spreadsheet software to develop models. You will add simple and complex formulae including absolute cell references. You will also use the ‘goal seek’ facility.

8.5

Work as a team to set up, organise and run a fundraising event that must make a profit. You will use a wide range of ICT to solve the problems associated with planning such an event.
