Aim
Whilst working within religious education you will be developing your own beliefs and values and considering thoughtfully those of others.
Skills
Throughout the course you will be involved in a variety of activities which will help you develop many skills. The main skills are:
- Exploring religions
- Acquiring knowledge
- Understanding beliefs and practices
- Respond to beliefs and practices
- Reflect on religion
- Express opinions
These skills will help you develop critical thinking and skills of communication and expression. Overall the skills developed will enable you to play a full and active part in today’s world.
Expectations
At the end of the course:
All pupils will be able to identify and describe key features of a number of religions. Compare basic differences in the practices of different religions. Reflect upon how different religions affect the lives of individuals. They will begin to have developed their own opinions on their values in society.
In addition some pupils will be able to question themselves and from their own responses to topics. They will evaluate religious and other views using appropriate evidence and examples.
