Media GCSE

GCSE MEDIA STUDIES – DUAL AWARD

Year 11 Option Group (2007 – 8) are following this course as are the Year 10 Fast Track Pupils who have opted to study after school on Tuesday nights.

The course is briefly as outlined below:

 

UNIT 1 – Intro to Media
3 pieces of written coursework
• Horror Films (Film)
• Reality TV (TV)
• Newspapers (Print)

UNIT 2 – Developing Production Skills

Produce a media product in 2 media forms according to a brief set by the exam board – this changes every year.

UNIT 3 – Research and Preparation for Production

Linked to U4 – you will carry out detailed research and planning for what you intend to produce.

UNIT 4 – Realising a Media Product
You will produce the product you have planned for in U3 – this is also set by the exam board and changes every year.

THERE IS NO EXAM

Unit 1 & 2 together are worth one GCSE, all 4 Units are worth two GCSEs.

Specific Briefs for 2007-8:

Year 11 Unit 3 & 4 – Research and plan materials that will encourage a specific target audience to live a greener lifestyle.

Year 10 Unit 2 – Research and plan in at least two media forms a campaign which would encourage would-be film makers to choose your local area for a new film production.
